Physics Teacher - Southend-on-Sea, Essex job description

23 february 2018

Physics Teacher

Are you a consistent and dedicated Physics teacher, looking for a role in a school that is Ofsted graded Good, but is striving for that Outstanding grade? Do you think you can raise the bar to make the grade?

Here at Randstad Education, we are working on behalf of a large academy in the Southend area, to help them make that extra step forward they are so keen to make. The school is keen to strengthen it's Science department, by appointing someone who can bring fresh thinking to teaching and learning in the Physics strand. This is a full time position, teaching across the Sciences up to GCSE, and teaching Physics as an individual specialism, both at GCSE and A Level.

The successful candidate will need to display:

*Thorough subject knowledge of the Sciences up to GCSE, with a specialism in Physics, and the ability to teach this up to A level.
*Good behaviour management. Behaviour at the school is good but keeping pupils consistently on track is a must
*Delivery of consistently good and outstanding lessons to ensure more-able students are suitably challenged and areas for improvement are regularly identified
*Good communication skills between peers, colleagues, SLT members and others around the school
*A sense of humour and the ability to remain calm under pressure

The school has a good track record in setting targets for students and checking progress against these targets. The Head at the school offers clear and forward thinking leadership and has successfully lead the school through a period of considerable change in the last few years. Significant progress has been made, particularly in the sixth form, partly down to a strong emphasis being placed on monitoring the quality of teaching. The school are keen to ensure more students are on track to gain the highest grades at A and AS Level in future years.

If you have the ability to raise standards and attainment through consistently good teaching, if you place emphasis on accurate marking and quality of written feedback, clearly identifying where students have done well and where they need to improve, then this school and this position is for you.
