Design Engineer

design engineer required on a contract basis to join an industry leading automotive business.

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity at the forefront of automotive technology? Do you have a background strategically controlling and coordinating the design and development of components and systems? Have you got a experience of working in a fast paced manufacturing / R&D environment? If you are seeking an exciting technical challenge then this is the contract role for you!

You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of technical solutions to project teams within the required cost, quality and time targets. The primary technical responsibility will cover glazing, sealing and wiping (e.g. all glazing, wiper motors and covers and all vehicle sealing systems). You will be expected to accept design ownership of a sub system / selection of parts and operate with an agreed level of autonomy and accountability subject to experience and support given.

You will be part of a dedicated, motivated and successful team which offers a dynamic working environment supporting major projects both internally and externally.

Key responsibilities:



* Creation of CAD models, component drawings, assembly drawings, exploded views, installation drawings and data packs including FMEA's and DVP's to support project requirements in accordance with quality acceptance standards.
* Support to 'fit and function' evaluation of subsystem components.
* Support to performance testing of subsystem components.
* Collating of test results and concern reports.
* Support to assembly line and build concern resolution.
* Support for BOM creation including mass information
* Support to the department: Support to the generation of planning and proposal information if required, Support to the department in achieving the requirements of quality systems approval both internal and external.

Experience required:



* HNC and/or equivalent experience in Mechanical engineering / Automotive engineering
* Technical knowledge which covers the specification and delivery of glazing, sealing and wiping functions
* Proficient in the use of CATIA V5
* Previous experience with a Design role in an Automotive OEM would be highly advantageous
