Care Assistant in Abertillery

Do you have a passion for providing Support to Elderly residents and those with Dementia helping to promote independence through day to day support? Then we may have the right job for you.

Currently recruiting for a 26 bed Residential care home in Abertillery specialising in looking after residents with Dementia, learning disabilities and mental health conditions. We want dedicated, enthusiastic and proactive careers who can use their own initiative and think on their feet. This role will involve covering short shifts including 07:30 - 11:00.

Within the care home, residents enjoy a number of activities including bingo, gardening and arts and crafts. With residential secure gardens and various social spaces.

Responsibilities: In addition to being passionate and enthusiastic about providing care for the elderly, other duties will include:

* Dressing, Bathing and general personal care.
* Administering medicine.
* Deliver a professional supportive service that meets physical and mental needs to elderly residents, proactively encouraging residents to maintain existing relationships and develop new ones
* To provide assistance where necessary to visitors, friends and relatives to support this aim.

You will have at least 6 months to a years experience of working within a residential setting for the elderly in the last two years. Other requirements include:

* An online DBS or happy to complete a Randstad DBS
* Manual handling and Basic Life Support / First Aid training - training can also be provided.
* Experience in a health and social care role with a flexible approach to working hours
* A good understanding of each resident's individual needs and requirements.
