Aero Performance Engineer

Randstad engineering are currently looking to source an Aero Performance engineer on an on-going contract basis.

This role specialises in vehicle simulation you will support the development of future vehicles within the Aerodynamics Group.

Key Responsibilities:

* Using simulation tools during the concept and development phase, you will provide analyses of the vehicle including the driveline and aerodynamic characteristics to optimise whole vehicle performance.
* You will support the development of design features and components to meet the functional requirement of multiple departments principally Aerodynamics, powertrain, Thermal & Cooling and the Design Studio.
* As part of the delivery of the whole vehicle attribute, you will input vehicle performance and modelling expertise in cross-functional project teams, ensuring an appropriate level of understanding is provided to allow effective attribute balancing.
* You will write technical reports and present results to a business-wide audience.
* Working with methods development and vehicle testing team you will contribute to the ongoing development of department's capabilities & processes and integration into the wider business.

Key Skills & Experience:

A Mechanical engineering degree or similar is required and you must be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of vehicle performance.

You will have experience with vehicle modelling, preferably Vi-Grade and GT Suite, performance testing and correlation to driver feedback. Experience of driver in the loop simulator testing would also be advantageous.

Your skills and abilities will include knowledge of physical testing techniques, including instrumentation requirements, data acquisition and data processing skills suitable for large datasets. Ideally, you will have an understanding of technical computing languages, for example, MatLab, Hypermath or C and experience using CAD data management, software specifically Siemens TeamCentre.

Personal Attributes:

You will be highly motivated and organised with a meticulous approach to tasks. Good communication and documentation skills are essential. You will have strong teamwork and collaboration skills and produce results within fixed timelines.

You will have developed a thorough knowledge of vehicle simulation and aerodynamic performance in a similar role in either F1, an OEM or at an outsourced partner.
